JOB TITLE: MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN
REPORTS TO: ENGINEERING MANAGER DIRECT REPORTS: N/A
POSITION SUMMARY
This position’s responsibility is to apply engineering theory and principles to problems of manufacturing production, under the direction of engineering staff. Will perform time and motion studies on worker operations to establish standard production rates, optimize cycle times, minimize reject rates, and improve efficiency.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• Extensive working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• 3D CAD modeling, Solidwork, Catia
o 2D print reading and creation
o Part drawings
o Assembly drawings
o Tooling drawings
• PL / BOM reading and construction
• Able to train all levels of manufacturing personnel (supervisors to operators)
• Able to write reports, business correspondence and work instructions
• Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers and customers
• Knowledge of automation, analysis, and problem solving
• Value stream mapping
• Effective communication
• Leadership, action driven, and self-starter
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years’ experience in Industrial or Process Manufacturing
o Process improvement and lean practices required
o Previous experience in machining, assembly work, bonding, automation, and robotics, preferred
• Three to five (3-5) years of experience and/or training in the plastic injection molding field preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Approve visual work instructions for:
o Molding of plastic parts with any at the press secondary or assembly operations
o Manual and CNC machining
o Secondary or assembly operations
• Building and equipment layout
• Develop, build, and test prototypes or new products, processes, or procedures
• Teach, implement, and sustain lean manufacturing
• Identifies and implements manufacturing process improvements using Lean and continuous improvement including Kaizen
• Collaborate with engineering to determine:
o Auxiliary equipment
Hand tools
Automation
Fixtures (Assembly & Inspection)
o Packaging
• Ensuring all new manufacturing project elements are well communicated and in place for successful hand-off(s) to production
• Identify opportunities for improvements in quality, cost, or efficiency of automation equipment
• Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity
• Oversee equipment start-up, characterization, qualification, or release
• Recommend corrective or preventive actions to assure or improve product quality or reliability
• Implementation of new and or revised products into the production facility, including:
o Source and cost justification of tooling and equipment for manufacturing processes
o Assembly methods and improved process flow
o Production work instructions
o Operator training
o Development of targets and monitor progress to goals
o Improvement of quality and production efficiency
o Optimize process flow
o Optimize cycle time
o Development of plans to reduce the level of scrap or rejects at each step
o Aid in implementation of operator level quality inspections
o Conduct cost reduction programs
o Quality improvement
o Efficiency improvement
